Welcome to dreaming spires. I’ll be posting here from time to time on the following topics:

• Ethical, Legal, and Political Theory
• Applied Ethics
• Other Areas of Philosophy
• Literature and History
• Music
• Visual Arts
• Computers
• Miscellaneous

The posts in the first three categories will be of a more-or-less technical nature. E.g., they will be such things as analyses of arguments found in professional journals. The posts in the next three categories will be of a much less formal nature. E.g., they will relate my experiences with the relevant phenomena. The posts in penultimate category will be, for the most part, about the Open Source Software Movement, a movement that I wholeheartedly support. The ultimate category is, I admit, a cop-out. I’m not sure what I’ll post here; I just want to leave open some possibilities.

I expect that I am the only person who will read this blog on a regular basis, and that’s probably the way it should be. Why? Two reasons: subject matter and style. First, most of what I’ll post is of limited interest to anyone but myself and, perhaps, a few others, many of whom have much better things to do with their time. Second I, like others, enjoy reading blogs that take the form of powerful polemics, but this isn’t one of them. Having said all this, I welcome readers.
